Cheerleading Team

Cheerleading at Penn State Hazleton runs throughout the academic year, ending with the annual sports banquet in April where awards are given for academic merit, perfect attendance and a Most Valuable Cheerleader of the Year.

Men and women are encouraged to try out for the squad which cheers mainly for basketball (November – March). Fans respond enthusiastically to traditional chants, especially when the Nittany Lion is on hand to excite the crowd.

Penn State Hazleton Cheerleaders also participate in community activities, such as a local pep rallies, judging for the American Cancer Society, and performing at the campus Community Day and Hazleton’s Funfest. The cheerleaders also raise funds within the community through candle sales, car washes, basketball hoop-shoot contests, clothing sales and various other types of fundraisers. Ask a cheerleader what fundraiser is going on now!

Working hard to achieve goals, having fun, and making lifelong friends is what the college cheerleading experience at Penn State Hazleton is all about.
