Area educator to be featured at Monday's diversity lecture
Penn State Hazleton’s annual diversity presentation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 28 in 115 Evelyn Graham Academic Building. The event is free and open to the campus students, faculty and staff, as well as the local community.
Jeff Brauer, professor of social and behavioral sciences at Keystone College, will be the featured speaker. His presentation, titled “Come out, come out, wherever you are,” will provide insights into the adversities and struggles LGBT students may encounter as they "come out," and will offer suggestions about different methods of assisting and supporting students through this process so that they don't feel lonely and isolated.
Brauer is an accomplished professor with many achievements including being recognized in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” and holding the “Best of the Abingtons College Professor” award from The Abington Journal. Brauer serves as an advocate of the LGBT community, and has contributed at many PA state conferences, and was a featured speaker at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Marriage Equality Vigil in 2013.
