Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The psychology major at Penn State Hazleton is intended for students who want to learn about human behavior, scientific research methods, and how psychology may be used to solve real-world problems. Students take course work in various areas of psychology, including:
• Clinical Psychology
• Developmental Psychology
• Social Psychology
During the fourth year, students will choose a capstone course from one of several options: an internship in a professional setting, a senior seminar on an integrative topic, or a research or senior thesis project.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology prepares students with a basic background in Psychology as well as a broad liberal arts foundation, including competence in a foreign language. This major prepares students for careers in clinical settings, social service agencies, research institutes, or businesses. Students may also go on to graduate school or professional school in psychology, human services, or business.
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology also prepares students with the basics in Psychology, and in addition it offers two options to prepare students for their specific career goals. The Science Option offers course work in anthropology, biology, bio-behavioral health, and chemistry. This option is suited for careers in biological, developmental, and clinical psychology. The Business Option offers course work in business, leadership, and marketing and prepares students for careers or graduate study in business, human resources, marketing, or organizational psychology.
